Corporate Accountant

JOB TITLE: Corporate Accountant

REPORTS TO: VP of Finance­­­­­

JOB CLASSIFICATION:Regular, Full-Time

STATUS: Non-Exempt

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Accountant’s primary duties include maintaining and reconciling cash balances; preparing bank deposits; entering accounting data into accounting system, providing financial reports and assisting with budget preparation, audit, and taxes.All functions will be carried out following Huna Totem Corporate accounting policies.

DUTIES:

Accounting duties (applies to HTC and subsidiaries, as well as HHF, EBT and SST)

-Reviews, codes and enters vendor invoices into accounting system

-Prepares third party reports (e.g. sales tax, property tax)

-Enters customer invoices into the accounting system and prepares monthly A/R statements

-Tracks expected cash receipts

-Prepares bank deposits and records deposits into the accounting system

-Reconciles bank and credit card accounts

-Monitors all general ledger accounts for accuracy, initiates adjusting entries as necessary

-Prepares monthly closing duties

-Assists with annual audit and tax preparation

Other duties as assigned including report preparation and projects requested by supervisor

Cross-training and back-up for other accounting staff

Works cooperatively with other accounting staff

Works with external audit and accounting firms, legal and IT as necessary

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

TRAVEL/RESIDENCY:

The Corporate office for Huna Totem Corporation is located in Juneau, AK.Residency in Juneau is preferred.During summer season, position may be required to travel to Hoonah for project assignments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  This job generally operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.This is largely a sedentary role requiring use of typical office equipment however, while in rural setting must be able to walk and drive on gravel roads and be willing to walk or drive in inclement weather.Role may require lifting of up to 20 lbs.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of ten years of accounting experience, including GL, A/P, A/R, cash management and financial reporting.

Extensive knowledge of GAAP

Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite of programs (specifically spreadsheets), accounting software and databases

Ability to work independently and as a member of accounting team

Excellent organizational, problem-solving, time management and communication skills.

PREFERRED EDUCATION:

Accounting Degree preferred
