The following are commonly asked questions for the Shareholder Services
Department.
When is the next distribution?
Shareholders of Huna Totem receive distributions from two
sources: dividends from corporate earnings and distributions
from the Shareholders’ Settlement Trust.
Corporate dividends are based on a rolling average of net
income over the past five years to be distributed in quarterly
payments during profitable years. Since the corporation has
had three difficult years financially, there is not
a corporate dividend scheduled at this time.
Shareholder Trust distributions are paid four times a year
during profitable years. The next Trust distribution
is scheduled for February 15, 2006.
Who is doing the hiring at Icy Strait Point?
We’re encouraged that you have an interest in our new
tourism operation in Hoonah. Point Sophia Development Corporation
in Juneau, our joint venture operator, is responsible for
the hiring and firing of employees. Please contact Johan Dybdahl
at 907.789.8018. For a complete list of positions needed,
please visit Jobs & Training on this website.
Who owns the Icy Strait Point operation–the
land and the building?
The ownership of this project has caused some confusion with
shareholders. Huna Totem purchased the land and also owns
the building. The corporation has 100 percent ownership in
the land, structure, and surroundings. Huna Totem also is
a joint venture partner with Point Sophia Development Corp.
The joint venture is responsible for the day-to-day operations
and building the business.
To whom may I gift my shares to?
You may gift any number of your shares to a child, grandchild,
niece or nephew. The individuals must be biologically related
in order to receive your shares.
Who may I name on my testamentary disposition?
It’s a good practice to keep current your testamentary
disposition, the form that indicates who will receive your
shares upon your death. You may leave your shares to any person
or any entity when you die.
